Todd Sloat enjoys the view of Ash Creek.

Big Valley is a large fault-block basin that contained a large lake in geologic time. Today, the Pit River winds through the valley floor, providing water for wildlife and agriculture. In the surrounding landscape, this valley shows Great Basin vegetative characteristics, including sagebrush communities. Also present in the valley is the largest acreage of vernal pool landscape in the watershed. These vernal pools host a unique assemblage of biota.

Your journey will continue by exploring any of the interactive 360 degree panorama views on the map.
